Field of activity 3: careful treatment of the resource soil
The careful treatment of spaces or the resource soil requires that we are aware of the value of soil functions. For this reason, the preparation of an extensive evaluation and analysis of the soil function in Weser-Ems constitutes an essential contribution for the knowledge networking. This can be based on existing knowledge. With the soil information system (NIBIS) of Lower Saxony the State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology (LBEG) operates an efficient system, which can already answer several soil and planning relevant questions. The system has comprehensive data collection and evaluation methods. The LUFA North-West as agricultural investigation and research institution can bring in further expertise with regard to the soils of the region.
However, within the context of complex challenges of the region Weser-Ems the existing level of knowledge will not be sufficient yet in order to carry out such an extensive soil function evaluation. Missing region-specific knowledge has to be identified and completed.
An important area is and remains the transfer in the agricultural practice. Some companies quickly realise new ideas, others are definitely reluctant and difficult to be convinced. Therefore a pure increase in consultancy activities will not be sufficient. In fact, a further development and optimisation of existing transfer approaches is essential.
